PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE
Alert
All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE have
recently been recalled. It is recommended that you stop taking anything
containing phenylpropanolamine as it has been linked to increased hemorrhagic
stroke (bleeding in the brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after
starting use of the medication. Problems were not found in men however the
FDA has recommended that everyone, including children, stop taking the drug.
The following medications have been found to contain phenylpropanolamine:

Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold Medicine (cherry or orange) Dimetapp Cold & Cough Liquid-Gels
Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Cough Medicine Dimetapp DM Cold & Cough Elixir
Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Flu Medicine Dimetapp Elixir
Alka-Seltzer Plus Cold & Sinus Medicine Dimetapp 4 Hour Liquid Gas
